Job Description
A leading international professional services firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support its Intellectual Property practice. This is a hands-on, strategic role supporting the growth of a global Intellectual Property practice. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, supporting the implementation of business development strategies, client engagement programmes, and market-facing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Business Development Strategy
• Develop and implement business development and marketing plans aligned with wider firm objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate activity against strategic goals and return on investment.
• Conduct market, client, competitor, and sector research to inform business development priorities.
• Ensure high-quality delivery of business development initiatives and stakeholder satisfaction.
Revenue Growth
• Support the execution of practice group business development plans.
• Collaborate with partners and key stakeholders to develop and promote service offerings.
• Identify emerging market opportunities and trends across regions and sectors.
• Contribute to major client pitches, proposals, and capability statements.
Profile Raising & Marketing
• Identify opportunities to enhance the profile of the practice and its lawyers.
• Support the delivery of client events, conferences, seminars, sponsorships, and PR initiatives.
• Coordinate directory and award submissions.
• Assist with the creation and distribution of thought leadership content.
Client & Market Development
• Support firmwide client and sector programmes.
• Analyse client, market, and competitor activity to uncover new business opportunities.
• Build strong relationships across the practice and wider business development function.
Job Requirements
• Previous business development experience within a professional services environment, ideally legal services.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market dynamics.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility with senior professionals.
• Strong project management and organisational capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive, collaborative, and results-focused approach.
• Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
