Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bids / Proposals Manager to join a high-performing business development and marketing team within a leading legal environment. This role sits at the heart of the firm’s sales function, shaping how the business responds to competitive tender opportunities and helping to win high-value work.
Responsibilities
Proposal delivery & management
• Lead end-to-end management of bids, proposals, and tenders (RFPs, RFIs, panel appointments)
• Assess opportunities and support bid/no-bid decisions
• Conduct research on clients, competitors, and market positioning
• Define clear win themes and support stakeholders in shaping winning strategies
• Write and edit compelling, high-quality proposal content
• Manage timelines, resources, and stakeholders to deliver submissions on time
• Support pitch presentations and coach stakeholders for orals
• Collaborate with pricing specialists to develop competitive pricing strategies
Process improvement & best practice
• Conduct post-submission reviews to drive continuous improvement
• Track pipeline activity and support pre-bid planning
• Maintain and enhance proposal tools, templates, and content libraries
• Promote best practice across the business
• Support training initiatives to improve pitch capability among fee earners
Job Requirements
• Proven experience managing complex proposals and tender processes
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with a focus on persuasive, client-centric content
• Experience working with senior stakeholders in a professional services environment
• Commercially minded with a strong interest in business development
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build relationships
