BD Manager - Funds - US Legal Firm
Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and commercially minded Business Development Manager to join a leading US law firm. This role is a pivotal position within the London Business Development team, with a primary focus on supporting the Private Funds group, while also providing oversight to Disputes & Investigations and Tax.
This is an ideal opportunity for a BD professional with experience in private capital or related legal practice areas who is ready to take ownership of strategic initiatives and collaborate closely with Partners and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
• Lead on the preparation of compelling credentials, proposals, and RFPs, adding strategic input and managing the full pitch process
• Produce submissions for legal directories and awards, and assess profile-raising opportunities
• Manage deal reporting throughout the year, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Conduct market, client, and competitor research in collaboration with the research team to support BD strategy
• Create and maintain impactful marketing materials including brochures, credentials, and market insights
• Draft and coordinate content for PR initiatives, including LinkedIn articles and industry publications
• Collaborate with Partners to develop and refine business plans
• Liaise with international BD colleagues to ensure global coordination on cross-border opportunities
• Maintain core BD infrastructure (lawyer bios, web profiles, contact lists, etc.)
• Track relevant industry events and identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities
• Work with events and client relationship teams to ensure high-value client engagement
• Monitor and report on ROI of BD initiatives and recommend improvements
Job Requirements
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) with substantial experience in a BD/marketing role within professional services – legal sector experience highly desirable
• Proven experience supporting a Private Funds or private capital practice area
• Strong project management skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
• Line management experience is a plus
• Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
• Confident and adaptable, with a proactive and collaborative approach
