Senior BD Executive - EPI & Disputes
Job Description
We’re working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Senior Business Development Executive to join their high-performing Business Development team on a 12-month fixed term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to support two core practice areas – EPI and Disputes – working closely with senior partners and associates in London, with regular interaction across EMEA, the US, Asia and Australia.
This is a broad, hands-on BD role covering pitching, client development, profile raising and information management. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to lawyers, helping drive strategic initiatives and delivering high-quality marketing and business development support.
Responsibilities
Relationship building
• Develop strong relationships with partners, associates and PSLs, becoming a go-to BD contact
• Build close links with local and global BD colleagues
• Gain a deep understanding of the practice areas and wider firm strategy
Strategy & planning
• Support delivery of business plans aligned to firm objectives
• Coach associates on BD activity and best practice
• Monitor client and market trends to identify opportunities
Pitches & proposals
• Lead drafting of pitches, tenders and proposals
• Maintain pitch content and precedents
• Work with design teams on bespoke materials
Client focus
• Deliver client engagement initiatives
• Support cross-selling across sectors and practice groups
• Produce client, market and competitor analysis
• Maintain referral firm lists and marketing collateral
Profile raising
• Support PR and communications activity
• Drive thought leadership campaigns
• Lead directory and awards submissions (e.g. Chambers, Legal 500)
• Organise and attend events and conferences
Information management
• Maintain credentials, CVs and case studies
• Update website and intranet content
• Manage client mailing lists
• Proactively improve BD processes and systems
Job Requirements
• Around 3–4 years’ experience in a Business Development or Marketing role (law firm or professional services preferred)
• Experience in disputes or a similar practice area highly desirable
• Confident working with senior stakeholders in a partnership environment
• Strong writing skills, particularly for pitches and submissions
• Highly organised, proactive and commercially minded
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office; experience with BD systems is a plus
